Jon Christiensen made a traditional style amaro. It contains more than fifteen ingredients that combine in an interesting and balanced way.
Floral notes of hibiscus, rose, and marigold combine with the citrus (lemon, grapefruit, and orange) to form the opening notes. Then hints of sarsaparilla, vanilla, and coriander are noticeable before the big, bold finish: Gentian paired with cinnamon, sage, and orris root. Jon’s amaro is sweetened with a turbinado simple syrup.
Enjoy it mixed with brown or white spirits, or on ice if you appreciate a bold amaro flavor.
